School Year 2012

I love this time of year!  Is there anything better than school supplies on sale?  Well...maybe shoes on sale.  While my school district doesn't start until September, I'm busy planning how I'm decorating my room. I started by laying out more floor plan and walls on graph paper.  My husband teased that I should make a diorama...pathetically I had already thought of it. Until I can get in my room, I'm busy purchasing supplies. I've already received my order from Oriental Trading Company for my prize box.  Now I'm getting ready to place my order with Really Good Stuff and The Teacher Storehouse.  I already purchased supplies from Walmart to update my Kagan boxes.  My "Kagan" Boxes hold supplies for each table group for Kagan structures.  They have whiteboard markers, colored pencils, "Jot Dot" Notebooks, scissors, and glue sticks.  My students have loved having the little notebooks that I call "Jot Dot" notebooks.  Even my reluctant writers have wanted to write in them.  I use them for brain dumps to spontaneous poetry writing.  The notepads above were purchased from the Oriental Trading Company $5.25 for a dozen..

An elementary teacher has many roles (or lifestyles). We pact numerous subjects in one day and have to meet the needs of a variety of learners.  As the school year progresses, I will be uploading resources and ideas that I use in my class.
